I come from a long line of women who sew.

Four generations of women in my family, like many families, made things by hand—vaudeville costumes, the Goodyear blimp, our family clothes. And my grandma taught me to sew when I was around seven years old.

At seventeen, I moved to Brooklyn, studied at Pratt Institute, and spent the next thirty years designing and making—children's books, clothing, interiors, gardens, toys, furniture, and fabric. Most of my work leads with color and pattern, inspired by universal ideas in folk art and humanity.

Little House Cottons grew out of an impulse to bring my work — the way I draw, the way I think about color and shape and story — into fabric.

All Little House Cottons fabrics are made from GOTS certified organic cotton. I want to tread lightly on this earth, both in my work and in my life. I believe that real environmental change will come from policy and collective action, but choosing organic cotton is one meaningful step I can take now—and I am committed to making sustainable fabrics accessible to others.

The greatest joy is seeing these fabrics transformed into your creations. Thank you for sewing with Little House Cottons, and for making it possible to continue designing for you.
